We hear people say it all the time as a blessing. It’s a way for Metaphysical folks to imply that we are praying for someone.
It’s a loving, comforting phrase. I use it myself all of the time.
But increasingly I see it being used as a sly exit from tough conversations confronting topics like racism, supremacy, bias and oppression.
I think we forget that love and light aren’t just fluffy, feel good words. They are also a powerful call to action.
LOVEin action is loving someone enough to help them see when their behavior is racist and oppressive and from a place of supremacy, bias and fear.
LIGHTin action is shedding light on the need to address the conscious and unconscious bias of supremacy while re-shining a light on our divinity and call to love others
As Healers, Light-workers, Metaphysical Folks, etc. , understanding the responsibility of these word in action means lovingly holding each other accountable when we see each other acting from a place of bias, fear, supremacy, oppressive and privileged behavior.
Believing in our own divinity means also believing in the divinity of others. If we are stoking the fires of fear by contributing to racist, Islamophobic, anti-women propaganda, where is the divinity and love in that?
Let’s remember that any form of supremacy, bias and oppression always originates from a lack of self Love. When we truly love ourselves, our desire is to see that love in and for other people. When we love ourselves we seek to learn how to love humanity on a deeper level. When we love ourselves we bring that energy to the world.
Blessings of Love & Light is not just a pass to leave a blessing and keep moving. It also means participating in the tough conversations of confronting racism, oppression, supremacy and gender bias as it happens. This is love and light in action.
